This year has reminded me why Starlight exists. Across the country, I am inspired every day by our incredible team, our generous donors, and our devoted volunteers—but most of all by the Starlight kids. Their courage, resilience, and joy in the hardest moments are what drive us to keep going. We lost far too many children this year, and those losses stay with us. They always will. Yet even in grief, these kids continue to teach us what true strength and love look like. This gift is also for a superhero friend who needs every bit of that super strength right now. As the year comes to a close, I’m grateful that even in a season of loss, life offered hope. Ending the year engaged to Karen Depaola is a reminder that light still finds its way through.
